What is NAD+?

NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) is a vital coenzyme derived from vitamin B3 that exists in nearly every cell in your body. It plays a central role in keeping your cells functioning efficiently. One of its primary jobs is helping your body convert the nutrients you consume into cellular energy. NAD+ also supports important biological processes, including DNA repair and proper cellular communication, so your body can operate at its best.

As you age, your natural NAD+ levels gradually decline due to factors such as oxidative stress, reduced mitochondrial activity, chronic inflammation, and lifestyle habits, including poor nutrition, alcohol consumption, excessive sun exposure, a sedentary lifestyle, and environmental toxins. When NAD+ levels decline, your cells may struggle to produce energy and maintain optimal function, which can contribute to fatigue, slower recovery, and other signs of aging.

NAD+ Therapy Treats:

  • Chronic fatigue and low energy levels
  • Brain fog and reduced mental clarity
  • Mood imbalances such as anxiety and depression
  • Poor sleep quality and disrupted circadian rhythm
  • Slow metabolism and metabolic dysfunction
  • Inflammation and oxidative stress
  • Reduced exercise performance and recovery
  • Cravings and addictive behaviors
  • Age-related cellular decline

How NAD+ Therapy Works

NAD+ therapy works by replenishing NAD+ levels that naturally decline with age. By restoring NAD+, the therapy helps your cells generate more ATP, the molecule your body uses as fuel for essential functions. Higher NAD+ availability also supports cellular repair processes, including DNA maintenance and metabolic regulation. As your cells regain efficiency, many people notice improvements in energy levels, mental clarity, recovery, and overall cellular performance.

How is NAD+ Therapy Done?

In Office:

At Spa Medicca, NAD+ therapy is typically delivered through a quick intramuscular injection administered by one of our highly trained providers. The injection may be placed in the upper arm, thigh, or glute area and usually takes only a few minutes. Many patients complete a short series of treatments over time, allowing the body to gradually restore optimal NAD+ levels.

At-Home Option:

For clients who prefer the convenience of treatment from home, we also offer an at-home therapy option. After your initial consultation at our office, you may choose to purchase a vial that can be safely administered at home rather than coming in for every treatment. During your consultation, our team will provide the necessary supplies and instructions, including sterile needles, alcohol swabs, and a sharps container. The medication is then shipped directly to your home for convenience.

Treatment is administered as a small subcutaneous injection (just under the skin) and is typically performed twice per week as you gradually increase your dose. A common protocol may look like:

  • Weeks 1-2: 25 mg twice per week
  • Weeks 3-4: 50 mg twice per week
  • Weeks 5-6: 100 mg twice per week
  • Maintenance: 100 mg once per week thereafter

While this is an example of a common dosage increase, we will advise on dosages and increases for your particular needs. Our team will guide you through the process step-by-step to ensure you feel comfortable, confident, and supported throughout your treatment. Of course, if you prefer, you are always welcome to continue receiving your treatments in-office with our staff.

NAD+ FAQs:

What Are the Potential Side Effects of NAD+ Therapy?

Most patients tolerate NAD+ well. However, as with any injection-based treatment, mild and temporary side effects may occur, including:

  • Redness, bruising, or soreness at the injection site (IM)
  • Increase heart rate
  • Generalized weakness
  • Chest tightness
  • Sweating
  • Flushing

How Soon Will I Notice Results From NAD+ Therapy?

Everyone responds a little differently, but many people begin to notice improvements in energy, focus, or overall well-being within a few days. Because NAD+ works at the cellular level, its benefits often build gradually over multiple treatments. During your consultation, our compassionate team will design a customized plan that aligns with your wellness goals.

How Often Should I Receive NAD+ Therapy?

The ideal treatment schedule depends on your needs and lifestyle. Some patients start with a series of treatments closer together to help replenish declining NAD+ levels, then transition to maintenance sessions spaced further apart. At Spa Medicca, we tailor every plan to you because your health, energy, and long-term vitality deserve personalized care.
